We thought that Wicked Nymph brought the darkness until we created her beautiful Belgian big sister, the Evil Nymph. This sour succubus started as Wicked Nymph and was aged in an A. Smith Bowman barrel for over two years. As our delicious demon began to age we decided to take her even further by adding cherries and lactobacillus to add some depth and darkness. Our patience has truly paid off with this one, with a delicious barrel nose, sweet bourbon onset, and subtle sour finish this balanced beast is not for the faint of heart. This medium bodied stout has an unreal smoothness to it from the addition of oats to the mash. The oats not only add a lot of smoothness to the mouth feel but give a touch of sweetness that is unlike any other type of stout.
For this “marriage” of two popular styles, we joined the distinctive sharpness of an India Pale Ale with the aromatic spices and citrus notes of a traditional Belgian Witbier to create a blessed union that is balanced, yet bold. This barrel-aged take on our Backpack Wheat is so smooth, it’s criminal. Aged in red wine barrels, Red’s time on the inside brought out the rich flavors of dark fruits and licorice.
Our Blonde ale is a balanced beer. It has a light body and a crisp, smooth, slight hoppy flavor.
We took our French Saison (seasonal farmhouse ale) and added rosemary from our own garden for this refreshingly crisp beer. Saisons were traditionally made as French table beer to be consumed with a wide variety of foods. The rosemary in this version will pair nicely with many of the offerings from our food trucks.
This Is a smaller version of our Black Sail Scotch Ale with less alcohol and a lighter body. It’s slightly sweet malt forward with some biscuit and light caramel notes.

We used amber waves of grain and American barley and wheat and then added cinnamon, nutmeg and apple cider to make an apple pie in a glass.
Our Belgian Tripel is a complex beer that is light and refreshing to drink. Has a pleasantly rounded malt flavor with spiciness and fruity aromas found in traditional Trappist style beers.
We worked closely with the Pivovaru Monopol (Monopoly Brewery) in Teplice, Czech Republic to brew a very traditional Czech style lager. We used only the finest European ingredients and followed the process handed down from brewer to brewer over the long history of Czech brewing. The světlý ležák (light lager) is the most popular style of beer in the world and one of the most difficult to brew correctly. Na zdraví!
In a different twist from our normal Backpack Wheat, we went for high citrus flavor and aroma. Then added freshly squeezed lemons and limes for an even bigger citrus punch. It is almost like sipping lemonade on your front porch.
Some of the greatest adventurers in history were the pirates on the high seas! Well this deliciously complex beer would make Blackbeard blush! We aged our Black Sail Scotch Ale in a red wine barrel from Potomac Point winery and the result is a delicious and slightly tart sour scotch ale. The red wine notes come through nicely on the finish. Sic Semper Fermentue Terribilis means Death to Bad Beer Always. We make our summer seasonal with 100% German Wienstephan yeast. Like the early German immigrants to central Virginia (Germana), we use German barley and German wheat to produce an authentic unfiltered Hefeweizen beer. Enjoy banana ester production, phenols, and clove-like characteristics. This is the best hefe you’ve ever tried.
Our take on a traditional British Strong Bitter ale. This balanced beer is very drinkable with flavors of malt and caramel. Hop bitterness and flavor are noticeable, but do not totally dominate
malt flavors like an American IPA.
We started hopping this low ABV beer with Pacific Jade and Simcoe hops. Then added Palisade, more Pacific Jade and more Simcoe. It is a hefty 70 IBU but the low ABV makes this an easy drinking IPA.
A strong, full-flavored American Red ale that challenges and rewards the palate with full malty and hoppy flavors and substantial bitterness. The flavors are bold but complementary and are stronger and richer than average strength American Red ales.
Our 2nd Anniversary party was May 14, 2016 and to celebrate we brewed a special rye barleywine and then aged it in freshly emptied John J. Bowman Bourbon barrels. This beer won a silver medal in the barrel aged beer category in the Virginia Craft Brew fest.

This is one of our specialty beers. It is a medium-full bodied saison farmhouse style Belgian ale that pours a hazy gold. The aroma is fruity, with some banana and strawberry notes, backed by spicy phenols, mostly white pepper. The flavor is true to its Belgian ale yeast and slightly fruity, like the aroma.

We worked closely with the Pivovaru Monopol (Monopoly Brewery) in Teplice, Czech Republic to brew a very traditional Czech Pilsner. Temporary Insanity becomes Minor Dementia. We aged our imperial stout in an oak bourbon barrel on abby ale yeast. The result is a beer that pours thick and pitch black, while the edges exhibit ruby highlights. The flavor is rich and dark, with a nice molasses character balanced out by a woody dryness. Very smooth considering the alcohol level.

We started with our award winning Backpack Wheat and then used a very citrusy hop, grapefruit peel, and grapefruit juice to give this a very grapefruity taste!
This Belgian style strong dark ale is similar to our Belgian Dubbel but bigger in every way and then aged it for a year inside of a port finished barrel. This malt-forward beer has rich, strong, and complex flavors, a bit of tartness, with a sweet start, spicy kick, and a surprisingly low alcohol finish for a 12% ABV beer.
We took our traditional German Hefeweisen “Backpack Wheat” and added 60 pounds of fresh blueberries per barrel.
Session IPA brewed with an experimental “Lemon Drop” hop gives this a citrus flavor as well as a pine flavor of a more traditional west coast IPA.
